Contiweb and DG press to Display at Labelexpo

BOXMEER, THE NETHERLANDS | Contiweb and DG press, Brummen, The Netherlands, will display web offset and finishing processes for packaging and labels at Labelexpo Europe 2017, September 25–28, at the Brussels Expo in Brussels, Belgium. The companies are offering the Contiweb Thallo, a web offset press system designed for the efficient production of high quality, flexible labels and packaging. The Thallo web offset systems are produced and distributed under a strategic partnership between Contiweb and DG press.

The Thallo variable-sleeve web offset hybrid system

“The Contiweb Thallo variable-sleeve web offset hybrid system establishes a new level of productivity in packaging,” says Bert Schoonderbeek, managing director at Contiweb. “DG press’s innovation and technical expertise has created a hybrid design that allows labeling and packaging converters to combine the benefits of web offset with the advantages of flexo, gravure, screen, and even digital processes, delivering optimum flexibility for label and packaging applications, without sacrificing print quality.”

“We originally developed the Thallo press to address fast-changing market demands for shorter runs, higher print quality, shorter lead times, and lower costs,” says Remko Koolbergen, co-owner and director, DG press ServiceS. “Under our partnership with Contiweb, we also provide maximum reassurance and value for money for our customers with access to comprehensive customer support, servicing and maintenance through the Goss (https://www.gossinternational.com) service network.”

The Contiweb Thallo has been distributed under partnership since drupa 2016, (http://www.drupa.com) initially under the Goss International umbrella until Contiweb was announced as a stand-alone brand in March 2017. Key advantages of the Contiweb Thallo reportedly include fast changeovers allowing shorter time-to-market; a standardized, repeatable web offset process; the ability to handle a wide variety of substrates; flexibility of prepress options for efficient just-in-time SKU production; and the significantly lower purchase price of offset printing plates compared to flexo or rotogravure printing.
