CINCINNATI, OH | Ampac Flexibles has developed an easy open, Linear Tear (LT) option for flexible packaging and pouches. LT technology provides a clean straight tear that requires a very low opening force and low tear resistance during opening. This feature is said to eliminate difficult-to-open pouches and irregular or ragged tears that can propagate into the product causing a messy or unpleasant consumer experience.

The technology reportedly is excellent for retort pouches to ensure only the top of the pouch tears off, allowing easy access to the contents. It is also a solution for zippered pouches where the intent is to tear off only a strip above the zipper for reclosability. It also eliminates the need for laser scoring.
