Packaging Jobs Trackable with Dalim Web-Based Software

KEHL, GERMANY—Dalim Software reports it has launched DALiM FiCELLE ProPack, a web-based program aimed at those within the packaging supply chain. According to mfr., the ProPack product launch follows the success of DALiM FiCELLE, Dalim's web-based, collaborative production workflow system for publishers and their prepress and printer partners.

Dalim reports ProPack "unites the whole production chain, including retailers, designers, prepress and printers, in a shared workflow via the Internet within a secure environment for the streamlined communication, tracking, administration, and approval of packaging jobs." The co. adds it enables production employees to have access to real-time information and a "view" from any location within one, "fully customizable interface."

The system, says the co., is designed to suit packaging-specific requirements, where the production workflow is characterized by numerous, labor-intensive tasks that have to be completed to a high level of quality and color integrity. "Users can view their jobs on screen with clear, dynamically updated file status, and if required, the job can be viewed at larger size and in detailed resolution PDF files, giving the most up-to-date information possible."

Says Dalim Software CEO Dr. Carol Werlé, "The specifiers and producers of packaging are under increasing pressure to reduce turnaround times and production costs. In a consumer-driven market, where rapid time to market is critical, systems that can increase efficiency and accelerate production, plus improve quality, are important."

According to Dalim, the first ProPack already has been installed by Alcan Packaging at its flexible packaging prepress and gravure engraving site in Teningen, Germany, which serves such customers as Bayer and Nestlé. "In order to increase efficiency," says Albert Scheffer, Director Shared Service Centre Prepress at Alcan, "we needed to introduce a secure workflow communications solution. Dalim Ficelle is the only system that has the level of customization, flexibility, and security to handle the challenge."
