AIMCAL Converting School Adds New Courses to 2009 Schedule

FORT MILL, SC | The Assn. of Industrial Metallizers, Coaters & Laminators (AIMCAL) has signed on Timothy J. Walker, president of TJWalker+Associates Inc., St. Paul, MN, to be part of AIMCAL Converting School’s faculty. He and co-instructor Dr. Kevin A. Cole of Optimation Technology, Inc., Rush, NY, will teach two courses, the Roller Performance Workshop, June 15—16, 2009, and the Center Winding Workshop, June 17—18, 2009, at the Optimation Media Conveyance Facility near Rochester, NY. The additions to the Converting School curriculum, organized by AIMCAL, give attendees hands-on experience in a lab setting.

Walker and Cole join a distinguished faculty that includes another leading expert on web handling and converting, Dr. David Roisum of Finishing Technologies Inc., Neenah, WI, as well as other well-known consultants in vacuum deposition, adhesives, laminating, and coating technologies.

The Roller Performance Workshop at Optimation’s lab facility will show attendees how to eliminate poor roller performance and minimize problems such as tension variations, slip, and scratching. Equipment demonstrations provide hands-on training in web handling, and participants may make arrangements to evaluate their own webs and rollers during the workshop.
