PRESS RELEASE

FALLS CHURCH, VA—The Healthcare Compliance Packaging Council now is accepting entries for its 2005 Compliance Package of the Year Competition until February 15, 2006. HCPC has added a new category for Innovative Design, which will recognize compliance packages not yet commercially available.

Qualifying packages must:

  1. Be in a unit dose format.
  2. Have at least one compliance enhancing feature.
  3. Have been commercially available at some point during 2005 (excepting entries for the Innovative Design category)
  4. Not require drug products to be repackaged by patients.
The winner will be asked to designate a school of packaging to receive $6,000 in scholarship funds provided by the HCPC and Canon Communications, and the first runner up, second runner up, and Innovative Design category winner will each designate $2,000 scholarships.

Each winning entry will be honored at the HCPC's annual National Symposium on Patient Compliance, held May 16-17, 2006, in Philadelphia, and will receive publicity in the council's magazine, Unit Dose Alert. All qualifying entries will be displayed at the HCPC booth during trade events over the next year.

Complete guidelines are available at www.unitdose.org.
