Illustrated Glossary of Printing Now Available

PLAINVIEW, NY—The Illustrated Glossary of Commercial, Publication, and Package Printing, with more than 4,600 definitions and almost 200 illustrations, is now off the press. Coverage includes terms for print; ink; plates; substrates; equipment; operations; environmental aspects; security and safety; management; bar coding and RFID; flexo, offset, gravure, screen, digital, and inkjet printing; narrow web, midweb, wide web, and wide format printing; newspapers; commercial and package printing; and more. It was compiled by Dr. Nelson R. Eldred.

The glossary also includes converting-related terms such as labels, displays, corrugated and folding cartons, flexible packaging, rigid containers (plastics and paperboard), bags, pouches, and multiwall sacks.

Terms are arranged in alphabetical order, with many cross-references to terms with similar meanings. Over 30 existing and out-of-print glossaries were consulted. Many terms reflecting new graphics technologies and computer-related aspects appear for the first time.
