PMMI Acquires Full Ownership of Expo Pack Mexico

PRESS RELEASE

ARLINGTON, VA, USA — The Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) reports it has acquired the remaining shares of Expopak de las Americas Inc., an event which formerly was a joint partnership between PMMI and Oprex. Following the transaction, PMMI assumed 100 % ownership of Expopak de las Americas Inc.

Says PMMI president Charles Yuska, "With more than $400 million (US) in equipment shipped to the region annually, Latin America is a critical export market for PMMI member companies and North American packaging suppliers. We have long valued the many regional relationships PMMI has developed over the years to support the packaging machinery industry and look forward to another great edition of Expo Pack México in a great new location."

Since 1993, reports PMMI, it has owned 50 percent of Exopack de las Americas with its partner Oprex, a Mexican trade show producer.

PMMI says, as part of the agreement, Oprex will continue to provide show-management services. "Under the leadership of Oprex president Elena Maribona, the Exopak partnership successfully has produced the largest, most comprehensive packaging-oriented trade show serving the entire Latin American region," adds Yuska. "PMMI looks forward to the opportunity to continue this tradition of trade show excellence going forward as we bring Expo Pack fully under the Pack Expo family of trade shows."
