PPC 2014 Boot Camp Coming in December

SPRINGFIELD, MA | The Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) will host its annual Folding Carton Boot Camp workshop at its Springfield headquarters December 9–10, 2014.

Designed to provide graduates with a comprehensive understanding of the products and services offered by folding carton converters, the Boot Camp is recommended by PPC for anyone new to cartons—even if not new to the industry—as well as non-plant personnel with limited experience outside a single plant operation.

The two-day training covers the entire folding carton production process, from certified forest all the way to the consumer’s shopping cart. First, industry experts explicate the papermaking process, and next they describe the application of various inks and coatings. The processes involved in prepress, including CAD, layout, and graphics are all thoroughly explored, as are a variety of other procedures such as tooling, embossing, foil stamping, stripping, finishing, gluing, and windowing. The curriculum concludes with an assessment of automated packaging equipment. At the close of the seminar, participants are awarded certificates of achievement.

“With two days of Boot Camp under my belt, I now have a full understanding of all the materials and processes that go into making a folding carton,” says recent Boot Camp graduate Zach Codo of Accord Carton Co. “And I have certainly put this invaluable information to good use at my job.”

Boot Camp is open to PPC members, brand-owners, and nonmembers.
