HERMA Announces Durable Adhesive Material

FILDERSTADT, GERMANY | HERMA is now marketing an adhesive material said to bring together the properties of thermal paper with the durability of PP film. HERMAtherm PP white 65 grade features multilayer adhesive 62Gpt that reportedly makes it compatible with a broad range of applications featuring hostile or damp/cool environments, including logistics labels, luggage tags, and fruit, meat and cheese labels.

Company says features mean label printers can now use the same adhesive material for very diverse applications.

HERMAtherm PP white 65 is described as ideal for single or multicolor pre-printing with conventional techniques, such as UV flexo and UV offset. When overprinting the variable information, speeds to 200 mm/s are possible with direct thermal printing. Materials is also said to offer outstanding water and oil resistance, compared with other thermal stock, and it is free from bisphenol A (BPA) and safe, from both a physiological and a toxicological perspective. This means it can be used in printers and scales, for example, for food labeling purposes as well. Reportedly, the film is suitable for direct contact with food that is usually washed and/or peeled prior to being consumed.
