Plastivision India 2013 Showcases Innovations

 

FRANKFORT, GERMANY | Plastivision India 2013, held December 12–16 in Mumbai, welcomed more than 110,000 visitors and approximately 1,225 exhibitors from around the world. The show covered more than 75,000 sq m in 9 halls. 

Organized by the All India Plastic Manufacturers' Assn. (AIPMA), the event showcased various innovations and technologies from the plastics industry. Dedicated pavilions included Indiamold, Plastiworld, Plastics in Agriculture, Automation & Robotics in Plastics Pavilion, Green Pavilion, Solar Energy Pavilion, and Plastics in Medical Pavilion. Organizers report a major focus of attention was biodegradable plastics.

Raju Desai, event chairman, says, “We are humbled by the positive response that we received this year at the exhibition and are very optimistic about the growth reaching new heights. The event has successfully generated a business of Rs 1500 crore this time, bringing 50% growth when compared with business of Rs 1,000 crore recorded at the previous Plastivision. We are hopeful [we will receive] all the required support from the government that would facilitate the further growth of the plastics industry.”

AIPMA president Anand Oza says, "Our aim is to emphasize the need for the government to promote policy changes and better development of the industry.” He says government and industry should work together on innovative ways to deal with plastic waste and infrastructure construction. Plastivision India 2013 was the 9th edition of the trade fair, which is held in Mumbai every three years.
