DuPont Offers New Family of Flexo Plates

WILMINGTON, DE | DuPont announces Cyrel Performance Plates, said to improve shelf appeal through stronger, more vibrant colors, smooth vignettes and sharp, clean type.

These next-generation flexo printing plates specifically designed to provide outstanding tonal range and the highest possible solid ink density from existing standard digital workflow. The first two entries in the new family of plates are Cyrel DSP (solvent) and Cyrel FAST/thermal (DFP), said to be suited to a wide variety of flexible packaging and tag and label applications.

Company says plates do not require any modification to the main UV exposure step and perform well with standard flexo CTP units. There is no need for special films or laminates and standard prepress workflows can be used.

Reported advantages include superior solid ink density; long tonal range; smoother ink laydown with dramatic reduction in graininess; and minimal dot gain and dot size. Solids and screens can be combined on same plate. xxx

Resulting quality is said to be indistinguishable from gravure, while plates reportedly improve sustainability and offer productivity benefits including: improved press uptime, reduced start-up waste, the ability to shift to extended gamut printing, and reduced ink consumption.
