Polytech Adds Line to Research Center

MARANO TICINO, ITALY Polytech SpA has introduced a web converting unit nicknamed Octopus One to complement its two existing film extrusion lines at the company's Research Center.

Designed as a multipurpose coater/laminator, the line features a web width of 1,000 mm and is geared in for a running speed of 500 mpm.

A key decision in the design of the line, reports Polytech, was to accomplish the curing of environmentally friendly adhesives and coatings. This decision led to the addition of an EB unit from Energy Sciences Inc., a strategic partner of Polytech.

The Research Center, staffed by a team of specialized engineers, is primarily intended for in-house development of applied technologies, but it also is available to customers for their own R&D.
