CCL Container Plus Betty Crocker Are the Icing on the Cake
HERMITAGE, PA , USA—CCL Container recently teamed up with Signature Brands to produce an aluminum container for Signature's newest cake decorating product line, Betty Crocker Easy Color Decorating Spray. Available in grocery chains nationwide, it produces an airbrushed effect to allow at-home bakers to achieve a professional-looking decorative finish on their confections.

To achieve that look, Easy Color has to be applied uniformly, says Mindy Green, Signature Brands' cake spray brand manager. “After reviewing all the options, we concluded aerosol technology was the best way to guarantee smooth and controlled dispensing.”

Easy Color is available in five different decorating hues — red, blue, green, white, and yellow — and comes in 45×115-mm, white-coated aluminum, oval shoulder cans. Rather than applying graphics directly to the cans, varieties are identified by corresponding color sleeves that slip over the cans, a packaging decision made to enhance inventory flexibility. Both can and sleeve designs are consistent with packaging for the Betty Crocker Easy Flow Decorating Icing line, which debuted in 1998.

Active Packaging Systems Fit Objectives
NEW YORK, NY, USA—Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Co. reports a broad range of specifically formulated AGELESS oxygen absorbers address product and package characteristics to provide package freshness and assure consumer confidence over an extended shelf life, without the use of chemical additives.

The co. says the oxygen absorbers increase profitability by enhancing product distribution, and the extended product shelf life permits food marketers to increase geographic distribution and reduce the frequency of replacement stock cycles.

Classic AGELESS packets are available in a variety of shapes, sizes, and formulations and are inserted into a barrier package either automatically or manually. A variety of packet formulations address the individual needs of dry, oily, or moist foods; low-temperature foods; or delicate foods. Space-saving, p-s AGELESS slim-line label-format oxygen absorbers can be placed virtually anywhere inside a package, Mitsubishi adds.
