China Makes Its Mark

To coincide with this year's Olympic Games, held August 8-24 in Beijing, China, the US Postal Service launched a commemorative stamp for which MACtac supplied the p-s adhesive label materials. The stamp was designed by Clarence Lee and features a graceful gymnast, drawn by artist Katie Doka. The denomination in the upper right corner is placed inside a design similar to the ink mark on a Chinese “chop,” which is a carved wooden stamp. The bottom left corner hosts the five intertwined Olympic rings, which represent the five inhabited continents. Forty million stamps were printed.
