Eco-One Plastic Additives To Be Used for Food Service Containers

OAKBROOK TERRACE, IL | EcoLogic, a worldwide technology organization that provides environmental solutions for plastics, has an exclusive supply agreement to provide Eco-One organic plastic additives to Letica Corp., a leading supplier of foodservice packaging and containers, as well as rigid plastic containers.

Letica will incorporate the Eco-One additive to make biodegradable plastic cold beverage cups and lids, and thin-wall food containers for subsequent disposable in a biologically active landfill environment,  in accordance with ASTM D5511. Letica also plans to utilize Eco-One to facilitate biodegradation in its large rigid plastic containers.

The company’s Maui cup Ecoline FoodWare products will be the first to use Eco-One and is considered a “solution for eliminating plastic waste that escapes the recycling stream and winds up in a landfill,” says Jim Rooney, president of EcoLogic.

Anton Letica, president of Letica Corp. comments, “Letica is committed to developing the highest quality packaging with the least amount of environmental impact. It is our company mission to drive continuous improvement with material reduction, energy conservation, and recycling awareness without compromising performance, aesthetics or productivity. The prominence of persistent plastic waste in landfills is one of the driving aspects behind our push to find more sustainable options for our customers and the markets we serve.”
