Amcor Flexibles Launches Packpyrus Packaging

Amcor PackpyrusZURICH, SWITZERLAND | Amcor Flexibles is proud to announce the launch of Packpyrus, a new packaging solution which contributes to Amcor’s excellence in sustainability program and meets consumers expectations. Amcor is committed to reducing environmental impacts of all its operations and throughout its products’ total life cycles.

Amcor Packpyrus is a thermoformable cellulose-based packaging solution for the fresh market. Thanks to its oxygen barrier it is particularly suitable for pre-sliced products like meat or cheese.

For our customer’s convenience, Amcor is providing Packpyrus in three versions, i.e., Packpyrus Flexible for vacuum pack base webs, as well as Packpyrus Semi-Rigid and Packpyrus Rigid for modified atmosphere base webs.

The Packpyrus Flexible and Packpyrus Rigid solutions set themselves apart from the traditional cPA 80/PE 100 and APET/PE-EVOH-PE 300/50 solutions by offering significant improvement in life cycle performance. Thanks to their lightness, use of renewable fibers and optimized manufacturing processes they offer an impressive reduction in the cradle-to-gate carbon footprint of about 70% and 60%, respectively.

Amcor PackpyrusFurthermore the CEREC (French Committee for the Evaluation of Recyclability of Paper and Cardboard Packaging) recently published on its website a favorable technical assessment for two of the Amcor Packpyrus formats. As such, packaging made from these Amcor Packpyrus materials is allowed to feature the "Info Tri Point Vert" (Waste sorting Green Dot) pictogram, which was created by Eco Emballages to help encourage consumers to correctly sort their household waste for recycling.

In addition to its environmental credentials, Amcor Packpyrus is also creating particular interest in the packaging world due to its "Kraft paper" natural look and feel, which brings enhanced product differentiation on shelf.

Amcor Flexibles manufactures Packpyrus in a plant with ISO 14001 certification. Also Amcor is a member of SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) and AIM-PROGRESS (Programme for Responsible Sourcing).
