FPI to Judge Packages "Outside the Box"
- Published: March 01, 2002, By PRESS RELEASE
FALLS CHURCH, VA, USA—The Foodservice & Packaging Institute (FPI) reports it's hosting a new competition. The Institute says the event will honor the foodservice industry's newest, most distinguished, and innovative single-use package. FPI invites all manufacturers that have introduced such a package into the market on or after January 1, 2000, to enter their best candidate.
The second FPI-hosted awards ceremony to recognize and celebrate the single-use foodservice package, says FPI--the "2002 Best of the Best Packaging Awards"--is designed to distinguish key features and benefits of newly available, single-use foodservice packaging products. A first and second place award will be presented to winners in five categories, including:
- Best Plastic Single-Use Foodservice Package
- Best Foam Single-Use Foodservice Package
- Best Paper or Pulp Single-Use Foodservice Package
- Best Paperboard Single-Use Foodservice Package
- Best Aluminum Single-Use Foodservice Package
In addition, FPI reports, an overall Outstanding Single-Use Foodservice Packaging Award will be presented to the one entry that's made the most significant contribution to the industry since January 2000; this top honor will be selected from the first-place winners in each of the "Best of the Best" categories.
According to FPI, the "2002 Best of the Best Awards" nominations are open to all foodservice packaging manufacturers in the US and abroad. Award information is available on FPI's web site (fpi.org). Entries must be postmarked by April 5, 2002.
FPI says the judging will take place on April 26, 2002, during FPI's 69th Spring Board of Directors meeting at the La Quinta Resort & Club in Palm Springs, CA.
