Celplast Metallized Products, Toronto, ON, Canada, has developed a process for metallizing standard 48-ga PET films that reportedly results in metal adhesion values equivalent or superior to those of chemically treated metallized PET. Rolls run using the Supermet process are certified with metal adhesion values of >600 g/in. Non-metal side is corona treated for additional lamination bond strength. Available in standard and high-barrier versions, films are said to be suited for stiff, large-format, three-ply PET/met PET/PE stand-up pouch structures.
