MACtac Introduces Optically Clear Adhesive

MACtac PUREtac AdhesiveSTOW, OH | MACtac Printing Products introduces PUREtac CL216, the only optically clear adhesive specifically designed to go on and stay on packaging and labeling applications of health, beauty, food, beverage, and household cleaner products.

MACtac PUREtac CL216 exhibits superior clarity, high tack and peel, a quick, strong bond and excellent adhesion to low-energy surfaces. The adhesive is ideal for application to high-density polyethylene (HDPE) surfaces, such as juice and water bottles, oil bottles, detergent and other household cleaner product containers.

“The market demanded an ultra-clear, high-tack permanent adhesive for a variety of substrates and facestocks,” said Kim Hensley, product manager, MACtac Roll Label. “Designed for film labeling applications where exceptional clarity and excellent tack are required, MACtac PUREtac CL216 is the ultimate adhesive. Its optically clear, go-on, stay-on performance also benefits security aspects required of packaging and labeling applications.”

Offering unique adhesive properties compared to other clear label adhesives, MACtac PUREtac CL216 outperforms in a variety of areas, including:

  • Aggressiveness to HDPE, LDPE and PET
  • Exceptional clarity
  • Improved non-water whitening
  • Outstanding initial tack
  • Direct food contact compliance
  • Tamper evident

MACtac PUREtac CL216 is currently available on a 2.0-mil clear, 2.3-mil white and 2.0-mil chrome, top coated, biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) with 1.0-mil and 1.2-mil PET liners.

Polyester (PET) liners are commonly used in specialty applications as well as in no-label-look, high-volume prime label applications, such as food, beverage, and personal care products. PET liners offer excellent die-cut capabilities, smaller roll diameters, better adhesive appearance that leads to flawless application of the label on brand owners’ containers, higher productivity and the potential for recyclability. MACtac has successfully tested application speeds up to 1,000 fpm.
