SuperCorrExpo 2000 Will Be a Celebration of Corrugated

Calling itself "The Corrugated Show for the World," SuperCorrExpo 2000 will take place October 23-27 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

The event, sponsored by the Association of Independent Corrugated Converters (AICC) and TAPPI, will feature a machinery show with more than 300 exhibitors, accompanied by the TAPPI 2000 International Corrugated Containers Conference.

Special sessions for international visitors include simultaneous Spanish interpretation of selected sessions, an international visitors' lounge, local plant tours, and more.

A new feature this year is a training program for all visitors, on the exhibit floor. Several times each day, exhibitors will provide hands-on, interactive, ten-minute educational presentations in four tracks:

  • Corrugator

  • Printing

  • Die-Cutting & Finishing

  • Allied Suppliers (printing plates, anilox rolls, inks, and paper)

Visitors that attend all of the presentations in one track will receive a Certificate of Completion. These programs are free, but space is limited. Organizers recommend reserving a spot by calling the TAPPI service line at 800/332-8686 (US); 800/446-9431 (Canada); 770/446-1400. To register online visit tappi.org.

AICC Meeting a Bonus

In conjunction with SuperCorrExpo, AICC will hold its 2000 Annual Meeting October 25-28 at the Georgia World Congress Center. "Partnerships for Profit" is the theme for this fall's meeting, which the association reports will be demonstrated daily by the speakers and topics presented.

On Thursday, October 26th, AICC welcomes Jack Grollman, chairman of Triangle Container Corp. and a 50-year veteran of the corrugated industry. Grollman, a past president of AICC, past chairman of the International Corrugated Packaging Foundation, and 1990 AICC Hall of Fame recipient, will speak on the importance of ongoing and continuing investment in new processes, infrastructure, and machinery.

On Friday, October 27th, AICC welcomes back Matt Berler, chief economist for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. Berler will provide an overview of the containerboard and corrugated industry.

Other speakers will cover the battle between corrugated and returnable plastics; the partnership between marketing and bottom-line profits; and the partnership between the manufacturer and customer.

Saturday concludes with James Carville and Mary Matalin, America's most well-known, politically diverse couple. Carville and Matalin, coming from the liberal and conservative sides, respectively, will provide the AICC Annual Meeting attendees with insight on the political process, its challenges, and the partnerships and compromises required to succeed.
